07/23/2003 Entry: "Upbeat and smiling"
Earlier this month I might have seemed a bit gloomy. My well-laid plans weren't working out and there were nay-sayers hovering in the wings more than ready to say "I told you so."
The hardest part of discipleship for me is keeping faith when it doesn't seem to make sense. It's hard to trust when you're in the mire. But it is also true -- at least according to the Tarzan films I used to watch as a child -- that when you're in the mire the worst thing you can do is struggle. Waiting patiently for the help of God can be excruciating, but he is faithful and never abandons his people. Amen!
I just sometimes wish he'd give us a few more clues along the way. :o)
Replies:
Really pleased plans are coming together (I love the A team too!!)

Thnks Selina.
For those not familiar with Hymns & Psalms the hymn that Selina has in mind is:
Yes, God is good; in earth and sky,From ocean depths and spreading wood,Ten thousand voices seem to cry,“God made us all, and God is good.”
The sun that keeps his trackless wayAnd downward pours his golden flood,Night’s sparkling hosts, all seem to say,In accents clear, that God is good.
The merry birds prolong the strain,Their song with every spring renewed; And balmy air, and falling rain,Each softly whispers, “God is good.”
I hear it in the rushing breeze; The hills that have for ages stood,The echoing sky and roaring seas,All swell the chorus, God is good.
For all Thy gifts we bless Thee, Lord,But chiefly for our heavenly food;Thy pardoning grace, Thy quickening word,These prompt our song, that God is good.

All you need to do Richard is direct the "nay-sayers" to Hymn 363 in Hymns and Psalms. I was humming the tune as soon as I saw your response to Bene Diction. (Personally, I think the message in the hymn is to listen to the overwhelming noise of complete silence).
I'm glad things are working out.

My prayers too, Richard. I pray for each blogger as I read the blog.
And certainly, a few more clues along the way or nudges or whatever would be much appreciated.
Shalom,Jan

Bless you BD, I always need them. Today was one of those that proved God doesn't let us down - and it will take all my will not to go looking for the naysayers to give them a taste of their own medicine!God is indeed good - or to quote a great man: "I love it when a plan comes together"!

I wish I could say something profound to encourage you....
Sometime all we can do is come along side and sit quietly and say 'God's child, keep moving on.'
And perhaps stick a tune in your head to drown out the nay-sayers.
Jesus loves me, this I know,For the bible tells me so.Little ones to Him belong,They are weak but He is strong.
You are in my prayers.
