12/29/2002 Entry: "Pointless warning"

My daughter Ruth (now almost 6) has chickenpox. Not exactly festive, but it could be worse. I got her a bottle of antihistamine syrup, specially formulated for children. On the box is a warning which reads:

WarningMay cause drowsiness.Do not drive, operate heavy machineryor consume alcoholwhilst taking this product.
She'll be devastated when she realises she'll have to give up driving the forklift and her nightime vodka.

Replies:

Thanks for the tip Jan. I'll look out for it. Ruth is about better, but we have another daughter...

Hope she is soon feeling better. 2 year old grandaughter had this a few weeks ago. My son was able to find some tea-tree antiseptic cream/lotion which helped greatly in relieving the itch. The he caught it from her and said the cream was better than the antihistamine prescribed by the doctor. Aussie product, several brands. Don't know if it has reached you yet.Jan
