I think they goofed. Looks like a cheesy ad campaign to me.I wish them well. Wouldn't send me running to the nearest church or bookstore. Blog on!

That was my reaction when I first saw the posters in my town. But when I looked into it I discovered that this is an initiative of the Evangelical Alliance, an organisation which is neither humanistic nor spiritually reductionist. In media interviews this morning their spokesman made clear that their intention wasn't merely to smile benignly at wrongdoers, or to suggest that evil did not have to be dealt with. But in every situation of evil forgiveness is both possible and necessary. That's the gospel, surely?Of course you're right. Forgiveness is a "continual choice marathon" not only a one off. But "one off" events can be pointers in the right direction.

It's a romantic sentiment Richard, rather like Support the Humane Society day or Homeless Person day.Is forgiveness a one time decision, done in a day, or isn't it a bit more of a continual choice marathon? This ad is humanistically and spiritually reductionist. Blog on!
