06/22/2002 Entry: "Summertime"
I never want to hear another word about rain in Swansea. We don't have rain. There are gentle showers, drizzle, spots of precipitation. Here it rains. And storms with it. Wild, raging storms that make you afraid to put up an umbrella in case it acts like a lightning rod. We were in the path of a tornado warning today, but thankfully saw no sign of a tornado. So don't anyone talk to me about rain in Swansea. Especially if you're from Florida. But despite the weather, it has been another excellent day. We visited Silver Springs, a sort of nature theme-park, and what fun it was. (One if its claims to fame is that it was the location used for a good number of those old Tarzan films starring Johnny Weissmuller. I used to love those) These days its a place where you can get a close encounter with a little alligator, and a close look at a really big one. Several hours of family fun. But, Oh! How it rained!
Replies:
Pamela and Sarah took far too many pics, and Ivan videoed the whole thing, so they're the ones you need to talk to...

If I were to get one of those photos I would certainly post it to the weblog. If I got one.

Had a great evening at the Parish Centre last night (Sat).
Jenny organised a Traidcraft fashion show. Jenny introduced Ivan and family at the start and comment was made as to whether or not you were experiencing 'Florida weather'.
Pat and I were asked to provide a table of Traidcraft goodies. Pam Tucker, Beryl and the students who are still in Swansea also represented the Wesley clan.
Alice was one of the 'volunteer' models, but the 'star' of the show had to be Jenny in pyjamas. Shouting as she 'posed' seductively"No photo's." Then, whilst adopting another pose "I want all negatives".
We had refreshments of tea, coffee, wine, cookies (all fairly traded), a quiz (the students came joint first with 10 out of 13 correct, but lost on the tie break question), continued with 'volunteers' for hand bell ringing with Viv Lewis - Debbie and Chris showed their expertise by being, I believe, the only ones not to miss their turn, and ended with community singing of two songs from Feast of Life.
Have to go now to set up the Traidcraft table in Church.
Enjoy
