03/28/2004 Entry: "A brief guide to my mood"
Now that the brouhaha of the last few days' blogging has died down, there's something I need to clarify. I've been surprised to read other bloggers and commenters characterise me as "offended", "angry" - even that my underwear has become tangled! None of that is true. If you read my original post - slowly if you're hard of hearing - you'll see that there is no evidence for any of those things. So here's a simple guide to judging Richard's state of mind:
1. If I disagree with a post on another blog, I'll say that. "I think x is wrong to say y" would cover it. I might give reasons, I might not. Usually I'll tell the other blogger of my opinion, either by email or a comment on their blog. Call it courtesy.
2. If I find what someone else says offensive, I'll say "I was offended by..." or something similar. The clue is in what I write. Words are all we have, so you have to read them to know what I'm saying.
3. If something has made me angry, I'll say that. "I was very angry to read..." or something like that. Again, the clue is not difficult to spot.
4. If I'm in a knicker-twisted incoherent frenzy about something someone has written, I might write (purely hypothetically) "Blogger x is an over-privileged pillock with an exagerrated sense of his own importance, and no manners to boot." Or something. Depends who I'd be addressing - it's never happened yet.
Here endeth the lesson.

Don't take it to heart. Those that know you, love you.

You're growing on some who don't know you as well.

I'd say I love you in a manly-brother-in-the-Lord sort of way, but I don't want to risk starting the next brouhaha ;->
